Myth of Empires is set in 3rd century AD China, which was the era of cavalry. There are many legends about the war horses of that era. In these legends, the horses have real character. Some of them were said to cross mountains and valleys, and others were said to travel a thousand miles in a day. These horses were critical to the great military victories of their time.
More than a thousand years have passed since then, and people still make statues of these horses to commemorate them. That's why we decided to use the best technical means and content planning to design our horses.
Traditional methods would be unable to achieve the results we wanted, so we needed to seek out a AAA solution. The fine folks at Animatrik helped us with bring these horses to life with motion capture. Animatrik was founded 10 years ago with the express purpose of tailoring the highest pedigree of performance capture, visualization, and virtual cinematography services. They support the world in this effort (ie. The Avengers, Ready Player One, Planet of the Apes, Gears of War, Apex). Here's a video about what it was like to work with them:
Horses were a big part of ancient warfare and they’re a big part of Myth of Empires. The fine folks at Animatrik helped us with bring these horses to life with motion capture.
We hope to see you in Myth of Empires soon!
